KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 Weight loss formula producer Datuk Dr Che Rozmey Che Din has been suspended for two years by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) for allegedly contravening the Code of Professional Conduct under the Medical Act 1971.
MMC president Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman said the council in its inquiry on January 16 found Dr Rozmey guilty of allegedly selling, packing and storing substances claimed to be weight loss products, and thereby contravening Section 3.4 of the Code of Professional Conduct.
Dr Rozmey was also found guilty for allegedly advertising and canvassing whether directly or indirectly to promote his professional advantage and associating himself with a commercial enterprise contrary to Parts 4.1 and 3.4 of the Code of Professional Conducts.
Dr Hasan, who is also Health Ministry director-general said, in a statement, that Dr Rozmey did not exercise his right to appeal to the High Court as stipulated under the Medical Act 1971 and the suspension was effective from March 14.
He said the MMC also took action again other medical practitioners for allegedly neglecting and disregarding their professional responsibilities, namely Dr Balayegaran M.S (one-year suspension), Dr Chow Chong Chek (reprimanded), Dr Ng Ah See (reprimanded), Dr Roland Masing (six-month suspension), Dr N.M. Ananda Murthy (reprimanded), Dr Chew Yoong Fong (reprimanded), and Dr Rajendra a/l Nadason (two-year suspension). Bernama
