From exorcisms to sexual revelations to psychedelic psychotherapy, The Goop Lab series makes some pretty spectacular claims, all beneath a disclaimer that the show constitutes entertainment, not medical advice.

Among them: that the right diet could add years to your life, keeping you youthful and healthful beyond your chronological age.

In episode 4 of the series, goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow and her crew test out three dietary interventions designed to slow or even reverse aging.

"You can make yourself younger on the inside you're probably going to look younger as well," says guest expert Morgan Levine, an assistant professor of pathology at Yale University, at the start of the episode.

Using an algorithm designed by Levine, Paltrow and two Goop staffers have their blood tested to determine their biological age, based on markers such as metabolism, kidney and liver health, and cardiovascular function.

They then embark on three different diets to see which, if any, is capable of prolonging their youth and shaving time off their biological clock.

Goop chief content officer Elise Loehnen and VP of marketing Wendy Lauria tried face treatments and diets on the show. Adam Rose/Netflix Paltrow, 46 years old the time of filming, is told she has a biological age of 44.2. She is the prescribed the most extreme of the test diets: a five-day cleanse designed by Walter Vongo, a professor of gerontology at the University of Southern California. The cleansemimics a fast, while providing nutrients to avoid unpleasant side effects, through tea, freeze-dried soups, and nut bars. In total, she consumes 500 to 800 calories a day.

Next is Goop's chief content officer Elise Loehnan, just shy of turning 40, whose biological age is 37.9, according to Levine. Loehnan is put on a three-week-long Mediterranean-style pescatarian diet, mostly plant-based. It includes some fish, but no red meat or poultry.

Wendy Lauria, Goop's vice president of marketing, rounds out the group, with a biological age of 48.4, just over a year younger than her actual age, 49.5. Lauriais assigned a three-week vegan diet of plant-based meals, excluding all animal products like meat, fish, milk, and eggs.

Paltrow came out on top in the final test results, which showed that her fast-mimicking regimen had shaved 1.7 years off her biological age, bringing her to a youthful 42.5 (compared with her actual age of 46 years).

Longo, who designed the dehydrated mushroom soups and nut bars, explained that fasting has shown to have a wealth of benefits when done correctly, including significantly reducing the risk of major diseases.

Studies have found fasting shows promising benefits for losing weight, burning fat, reducing cholesterol, and other factors in health.But many of the studies have been small and/or focused on specific populations, so there's still a lot of research to be done before we fully understand how various types of fasting can affect health.

"We are getting insight into early time restricted eating but there is no solid research there yet it may be that a period of fasting during night hours is good for your metabolism but studies are still coming," Dr. Caroline Apovian, professor of medicine in endocrinology, diabetes, nutrition and weight management at Boston University School of Medicine, told Insider.

As for the show's "contest," Apovian was skeptical: the claims just went too far beyond what current research can support.

"We just do not know enough about genetic predisposition to factor into an equation about how what you eat affects your 'biological age,'" she said. "It is true that nutrition can put you at lesser or greater risk of chronic disease diabetes cancer heart disease basically all due to increased inflammation in the fat tissue and then leading to the chronic diseases through travel to other organs."

However, the idea that it can reduce aging and we can detect that in a simple series of tests is not supported by research, she added.

"There is no basis for blood tests supposedly revealing reduction of biological age by 1.7 years. This part is all made up and not based on any nutritional science whatsoever," Apovian said.

Furthermore, fasting isn't for everyone there can be significant health risks in dropping below 1,000 calories a day (Paltrow's diet included 500 to 800 calories a day) and it can be particularly dangerous for people with a history of eating disorders.

Morgan Levine, a pathologist at Yale University, and Valter Longo, the USC scientist who designed Gwyneth Paltrow's fasting diet. Adam Rose/Netflix Loehnan, after eating a pescatarian diet of plant-based foods with some fish, found her biological age dropped by a year, from 37.9 to 36.8 years old.

Her eating plan was similar to the Mediterranean diet, a plant-based eating plan that includes leafy greens, fish, and healthy fats. This style of eating has been widely supported by nutritionists and medical experts for its evidence-backed benefits, including to helping reduce the risk of diabetes, and protecting against certain types of cancers as well as cognitive decline.

It also has many similarities to the diets in so-called Blue Zones, areas of the world where people live the longest, healthiest lives.

Lauria, however, wasn't so lucky. After trying the vegan diet for three weeks, her blood tests revealed no change to her biological age, which remained just shy of her actual age at 48.4 years.

Analyzing the results, Longo blames the lack of protein in a vegan diet, saying the fact that Loehnan was able to eat fish made the difference.

However, there's also plenty of research to show people do see health improvements on a vegan diet, particularly if you get enough protein and other nutrients.Veganism has been linked to a better gut microbiome, leading to weight loss and fat loss, as well as reducing risk of cardiovascular disease.

It may not be true that snacking on superfoods can make you younger, but what you eat can still certainly affect your health. However, that leaves plenty of room for personal choice, since there's no "one size fits all" approach to nutrition, Apovian said.

"We do not know enough about what kind of healthy foods in what quantities or % for which persons are the healthiest.So we say that you can be healthy on a Mediterranean diet or a vegan diet or a high protein diet or low fat diet," she said.

Apovian added that it is safe to say that any diet that reduces dietary "junk" can improve your health.

"We do know that healthy diets are any diets that eliminate or decrease the intact of processed foods that are high in nonfood ingredients, sugar and saturated fat," she said.

With her own line of cosmetics, Ashley Tisdale knows skincare and knows that a healthy glow starts with what you eat and drink.

For me, its all about feeling good, the actress, 31, tells PEOPLE of her diet. I have a makeup line, Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale, and yes its easy to put makeup on and go out, but true confidence comes from within.

Drinking plenty of water and sleep are my biggest beauty tips. Treat your body how you treat your skin and you will always feel good!

Tisdale says she just changed up her diet to help her body be at its best.

I recently found out what my food sensitivities are, so I had to cut dairy out and certain other foods that werent good for me, she says. Also, as much as I love carbs I cut them down a lot. I allow myself to have them once a week.

The Verdict:

Ashley has a super-clean diet and does a great job of eating lots of fruits, vegetables and no junk food, says Chicago-based dietitian Dawn Jackson Blatner. She praises Tisdales snacks in particular, which include produce and a protein: the perfect combination to bridge one meal to the next without getting too hungry. And Blatner suggest testing out a few clean, whole-grain carbs like brown rice, quinoa and sprouted grains that are good for people with food sensitivities because theyre easy to digest. Getting them in early in the day is something to consider to keep energy levels up on busy, active days, she says.

What The Cast Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Really Eats In A Day – Women’s Health

Over the years, the cast of Dancing With The Stars has provided a lot of fitness and lifestyle inspo. Fans have turned to the likes of Julianne Hough, Cheryl Burke, and Britt Stewart for tips on exercise routines and how to stay motivated.

Along with their fitness advice comes dietary suggestions. And I don't mean diet fads. I'm talking about ways to eat clean and have balanced meals throughout the day. Even more importantly, pro dancers like Sharna Burgess have talked about the importance of indulging, and Britt is all about listening to what your body wants. So, yes, eat that piece of chocolate cake!!!

The professional dancers have even passed their wisdom on to their celebrity counterparts throughout the years. For fan-favorite Kelly Osbourne, her partners recommendations led to a 20-pound weight loss and total lifestyle change. (More on that later.) And AJ McLean got a head start on eating for the job by adjusting his diet one month before his season started.

Some of the pros (and a few celebs, too) have documented what they eat on their Instagrams, so you can follow along on their nutritional journey. For some cast members, that means opting for easy-to-make meals (I see you, Lindsay Arnold), whereas others (*cough cough* Artem Chigvintsev) are waaaayyy more savvy in the kitchen.

All in all, the DWTS cast members' diets run the gamut. Curious? Here's what the cast (new and old) *actually* eats in a day.

Witney Carson

Pro dancer Witney Carson has tried it all when it comes to dieting. "I've done keto before, and I felt really gross," Witney told Womens Health. "I did lose weight on it, but my skin broke out. I have eczema and my eczema was super, super bad. I think I have an allergy to dairy and cheese, so I try to stay away as much as I can now."

Now, Witney's back to the basics. She eats a lot of whole foods and tries to keep a clean diet, which includes lean meats and minimal carbs. Her meals consist of oats in the morning to hold her over till lunch, when she has greens and protein. She gets an energy boost in the afternoon from nuts, a protein bar, or even plain turkey lunch meat. And there is one thing she doesnt have for dinner: carbs.

Jenna Johnson

Jenna Johnson, who made history this year as part of the first same-sex pairing on DWTS, had an awful relationship with food for a while, she told Womens Health. After gaining weight on a vegetarian diet, she started incorporated meat back in, consuming more protein, and ultimately slimming down.

"Looking at food as fuel has been a game changer for me," Jenna said. "For me, what makes me healthiest and happiest and most powerful is a happy balance of non-processed food and a lot of protein. I need it for recovery and for my muscle."

The season 26 winner starts her day off with eggs, but ditches the coffee for kombucha. (Now that's brave, IMHO.) For lunch, she consumes leafy greens with a side of protein, like chicken or shrimp. When it comes to snacks, she opts for nuts, berries, and the occasional hard boiled egg. Jenna doesn't go without dessert after dinner (which usually consists of chicken, quinoa, and green veggies) and opts for dark chocolate or a vegan treat.

Britt Stewart

Britt Stewart, who joined the cast on season 29, has been gluten-free for 11 years for health reasons, she told Womens Health. Her diet practice is all about intuitive eating.

"I really believe in intuitive eating and listening to your body, and not in the fad diets that are popular in the moment," she said.

In the morning, Britt is all about her organic coffee. Sometimes, she'll follow that up with a green smoothie or yogurt and granola. When she's burning calories during rehearsals, she'll snack a couple times a day. In the morning, she reaches for fruit, while her afternoon snack is a little more savory (think veggie chips and hummus). For lunch, she keeps it plant-based with a big salad. Dinner is when she really listens to her body and what it wantswhich can be anything from stir fry to a steak. Occasionally, she reaches into the freezer for a pint of ice cream.

Cheryl Burke

Veteran pro Cheryl Burke shed pounds in 2014 following a very specific diet. During the pandemic, Cheryl talked all things fitness with Hollywood Life, including what she stocked up on.

"I'm totally addicted to Hippeas snacks. Also water, green tea and dark chocolate aa and blueberries," she said. "Whenever we can manage to getpasta and marinara sauce, it's a good day! Also, lots of greens for [husband Matthew Lawrence]'s reptiles, who are vegan as well, so they have to share their greens with me!"

Lindsay Arnold

Lindsay Arnoldwho was paired up with Matt James in season 30 until their shocking departureoften shares easy recipes on her Instagram. This yummy summer salad is one of Lindsay's go-tos. For breakfast, she opts for avocado toast and granola and yogurt with berries.

"Quick & Easy breakfast for people like me who don't have the time *or the skill* for the fancy stuff but still want something that is tasty and good for you!!!" she wrote.

She also hits up Trader Joe's for its pizza kits (a woman after my own heart), but you won't find any mushrooms or tomatoes on it.

Sharna Burgess

Sharna Burgess is all about having her cake and eating it tooliterally!

"Wanting for yourself is human, WHICH YOU ARE, and as long as you move with kindness, courage and gratitude throughout life.. you aren't hurting anyone by going after your own desires. Find things that make you feel good, and keep doing them. So... eat the [fing] cake ," she wrote on IG to accompany a photo of her eating a nice slice of cake.

The season 27 mirrorball trophy winner is all about indulgingwhether it's coffee or donuts. She also promotes Hello Fresh, as a way to accommodate her busy schedule.

Peta Murgatroyd

Two-time mirrorball trophy winner Peta Murgatroyd fell in love with cooking when she started a family with fellow pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

"I used to loathe it, because I never had to do it and therefore never had the passion for it," she told People. "Now that I'm a mother and I am concerned with what my child is eating, I am more inclined to cook at home, to ensure I know exactly what's going in his mouth."

For breakfast, she takes her coffee with half and half and agave, and she has a four-egg omelet with goat cheese, five slices of smoked salmon, capers, and dill. Her go-to lunch is a salad with chicken, cucumber, flaxseed, tomatoes, red onion, dill, and balsamic vinegar dressing. As for dinner, she prefers a 5 oz., dry-rub steak with steamed veggies.

Julianne Hough

Former pro and judge Julianne Hough is always on the goespecially with her company Kinrgy. She maintains a balanced diet, but definitely knows when its time to indulge.

"I try to cut myself some slack if I'm being consistent with my nutrition and activity," Julianne told People. "If I am craving a piece of chocolate I go for something dark to satisfy the craving."

Julianne is all about hydration and drinks 4-6 glasses of water per day. She also incorporates two smoothies into her daily diet: one pre-workout and one as a snack. Her breakfast comprises of two steamed eggs over easy with tomatoes and avocados and a cup of English Breakfast tea. She opts for a boneless, skinless chicken breast over greens and veggies for lunch, and she rounds out her day with baked salmon, sauted spinach, and a seltzer.

Derek Hough

To keep up with his rigorous workout routine, former DWTS pro and current judge Derek Hough has to maintain his caloric intake.

He told Men's Health that he has a "very L.A.-looking fridge." It's full of oat milk, celery juice, avocados, pickles, and kombucha. His diet consistently features chicken, fish, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables. Derek's one temptation: movie theater candy.

Alan Bersten

In preparation for each season, Alan Bersten keeps a clean diet. That means "cheat day" is his favorite day.

His go-to meal is a carb-filled pizza with a lot of mozzarella, plenty of veggies, and sausage. As for his day-to-day indulgences, it looks like he's a big fan of La Croix and orange juice, according to his IG. Wait, are those Fruity Pebbles I see?

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Maksim Chmerkovskiy spent 17 seasons on DWTS and is now a judge on the Ukrainian version. The hunky Latin-ballroom champion uses his Instagram to document his journey with intermittent fasting.

"My 1pm breakfast That 16/8 kinda life Eggs, pickles, sourdough bagel, kerrygold butter, black caviar, coffee (w coconut oil & honey)," he captioned one of his posts. He loves to show off his breakfasts, late-night grilling, and incredible seafood choices.

Kym Johnson

When she was pregnant with twins, former DWTS pro Kym Johnson shared some helpful tips for those struggling with unhealthy cravings.

"My answer to that is simple: just indulge yourself," she told People. "Dont feel guilty or be too hard on yourself about your cravings. Balance out your cravings with healthy food. Try to stay away from processed food and meat or food your doctor has advised you not to eat."

During pregnancy, she craved chocolate croissants, but her favorite meals include salmon, salads, and scrambled eggs. She loves snacking on apple slices, dried apricots, and Greek yogurt with some berries. Edyta liwiska may have officially exited DWTS after season 22, but she's still dancing. That means she maintains a healthy dieteven during her 2020 pregnancy.

"I try to do something active every day. I'm putting in an hour a day of physical activity," she told People. "I do a lot of cardio because it helps me with my energy. I'm eating really healthy and I'm feeling great."

She even gets her children engaged with picking fresh produce, like these HUGE lemons.

Daniella Karagach

Season 29 newbie Daniella Karagach documented her morning on her personal vlog.

In it, she gets ready for her day, which includes downing a glass of apple cider vinegar mixed with water. She swears it's healthy for you, but does not taste good. She typically follows that up with a bowl of oats, flaxseed, peanut butter, and coconut.

Allison Holker

Former DWTS pro Allison Holker is running a household full of kiddos, and she's teaching them all about nutrition.

"As a mom, I am always looking for new ways to teach my kids about the importance of nutrition and overall well-being," she wrote on IG. Her page is full of fun recipes to do with the kids, like these fun treats.

As for her personal diet, Allison sticks to mostly veggies. "For the most part, I eat only vegetables and fruits and I drink a lot of water. I think for my body that is really the best fuel for meI sleep better at night and I feel like my skin looks better because of eating vegetables and not eating meat," Allison told Hollywood Life.

Anna Trebunskaya

Anna Trebunskayawhose last appearance was on season 21maintained a balanced diet throughout her pregnancy in 2020, but she definitely indulged. "I really loved pickles and olives during my first trimester. Now I switched to more desserts. My go-to dessert is coconut ice cream vanilla flavor," Anna told People.

She even takes her young ones apple picking.

Karina Smirnoff

Former DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff looooves seafoodand she even shared favorite recipes with fans. "I shared two of my favorite easy seafood recipes that give you protein for your fuel healthy muscle growth without those extra calories and fat!" she wrote on her IG.

They include zucchini swordfish and miso-glazed salmon.

Tony Dovolani

Since ending his run on DWTS, there's one thing known about Tony Dovolani's diet: It includes ice cream. In 2016, he started supporting his friend's ice cream shop, Double Twister, in Connecticut.

As of 2020, Tony runs his own shop called Scoopin, which is also in Connecticut. So if you want a couple scoops or an ice cream cake, Tony can hook you up.

Tristan MacManus

After his five-season run on DWTS, Tristan MacManus moved back to Ireland and became a morning show anchor, where he sometimes steps into the kitchen with his guests. He even takes what he learns at work and applies it to his own cooking. I mean, look at this mac and cheese .

Not much is known about Keo Motsepe's current eating habits, but he does chow down on salads in his trailer.

AJ McLean

One month before joining the cast of DWTS season 29, AJ McLean did an overhaul on his exercise routine and diet. "I'm on a very strict diet, grain-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, no sodas of any kind, and completely sober for almost nine months," McLean told Us Weekly.

Before stepping foot on the dance floor with partner, Cheryl Burke, the Backstreet Boys member dropped 15 pounds.

Christie Brinkley

Model Christie Brinkley didn't have to change her diet before going on DWTS, but she did have to change it after. When she broke her armresulting in an early departure and her daughter, Sailor, taking her spot on the showthe lifelong vegetarian briefly introduced salmon into her diet.

"I've added salmon because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which help regulate inflammation that causes joint stiffness and pain and is also excellent source of calcium and vitamin D, which help to maintain bone strength and speed healing...especially important for me now!" she wrote on IG.

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne placed third during season nine of DWTS and lost 20 pounds during her experience. But her diet did not match the exercise she was putting in at first.

"I'd fill up on French fries and pizza all day and wonder why I wasn't losing weight," she said at the time. "In the very beginning, I kept getting sick during rehearsals because I was eating such terrible, fatty food and feeling so exhausted."

Her partner, Louis Van Amstel, introduced her to a high-protein, low-carb diet to help keep her energized.

Drew Scott

Property Brothers star Drew Scott had to restrict his diet so much during DWTS that, after the finale, a celebration meal was first on his list. "We're going to go out, and I'm going to eat a lot of food tonight," he told Us Weekly. "I want a burger, a hot dog, and sushi."

Lil' Kim

To prepare for DWTS, rapper Lil Kim signed up for the food delivery service Freshology and started tracking her caloric intake. After the show, she continued tracking, avoiding heavy foods, and staying hydrated.

Working out can sometimes feel like, well, hard work. Thats why its always refreshing to discover a more fun way of keeping fit.

Kelly Osbourne has shed six stone on a vegan diet and with the help of gastric sleeve surgery in 2018. However shes also been known to keep in touch with her inner child and indulge in some good old-fashioned hula hooping.

The 35 year old reality star, who recently shopped for children's clothes after struggling to find clothes that fit her following her weight loss wrote about her weight struggles in her 2017 memoir, describing herself as having 'a little dumpling body'.

She also said she was put off going to the gym because of all the thinner people she knew shed encounter.

Which is perhaps why shes been known to take up hula hooping in particular a weighted Hoopnotica hula hoop to help her sustain weight loss.

I have a Hoopnotica hula hoop, Kelly previously said. I use it every day. Its made my back and arms stronger, and my waist has gone down two inches. On Saturday nights my friends and I put on ridiculous outfits and hula-hoop and dance when everyone else is at da club."

The brand was founded by Gabriella Redding, who claims that she lost 50 pounds in one year through hula hooping.

It's been reported that Michelle Obama, Kelly Brook and Beyonc are all fans of a hula hoop workout. According to the American Council on Exercise, a personal training provider, you can burn seven calories a minute while hooping. It also helps to improve posture, boost circulation, and strengthen core muscles.

Whats more its a great activity to take up if youre stuck at home you can do it in front of the TV, making it a perfect pandemic work-out.

Personal Trainer Chris Hall, founder of Hall Personal Training even reveals that research suggests that hula hooping for 15 minutes a day, four to five days a week for six weeks can help you to lose up to 4cm of your waist.

Goop Lab: The Weirdest Things In Gwyneth Paltrow’s Netflix Show – Screen Rant

From psychic mediums to energy healing and hallucinogenic mushrooms,there are quite a few weird things in Netflixs The Goop Lab. The new series had its first season release in January 2019, with six episodes that dive into supposed treatments and cures that are actually deeply rooted in pseudoscience.

Netflix had partnered with Gwyneth Paltrow to deliver a series that brings her lifestyle brand Goop - particularly, the weird products and treatments her website shills to wealthy and curious customers - to the general public. After all, this is the company that preaches the benefits of coffee enemas, vaginal steaming, and walking around without shoes so you can absorb the earths energy through the soles of your feet.

The announcement that Goop had teamed up with Netflix for The Goop Lab had us wondering how much weirder things could get. Oddly enough, the show is pretty mellow by Goops usual standards, but that doesnt mean its any less bonkers! Were looking into the weirdest things youll see in The Goop Lab.

To kick things off, the first episode introduces Goop staff and their audience to the practice of therapy via the ingestion of hallucinogenic mushrooms. The team fly out to Jamaica, where such drugs arent illegal, and drink some tea that quickly has them all lying on the floor, laughing hysterically before falling into fits of sobbing as they revisit traumatic periods in their lives. There is some science behind the use of hallucinogens for controlled mental and physical health benefits, so this isnt the most bonkers thing for The Goop Lab to dive into. Still, the image of all these people embodying the purest clich of getting stoned has its entertainment value.

The controversial guru Wim Hof is front and center in episode 2, preaching his ethos that his breathing techniques and cold exposure therapy can help with all manner of illnesses and mental issues. While the show overlooks the number of deaths connected to this method and the more outlandish claims Hof makes about his work on his website (including that his techniques can be used to treat multiple sclerosis and Parkinsons disease), it gives full airtime to his theatrics.

Hof acts like an overexcited folk-rock musician most of the time, and the zenith of his zany antics comes when he leads the Goop team in a session of outdoor yoga with at least a foot of snow on the ground, all while the women are in their scantiest bikinis. Its certainly a striking image, although its hard to shake your skepticism about this process when the women all look freezing and miserable while insisting they feel invigorated by this endurance feat.

Perhaps the greatest, most unironically helpful thing The Goop Lab does across its six-episode run is show a whole lot of vulvas. Episode 3 dives into the topic of sexual wellness and destigmatizing female pleasure. Its actually the most interesting and genuinely radical episode of the show as Goops usual snake oil tactics take a backseat to listening to sex expert Betty Dodson give advice on matters such as orgasms. On top of showing a woman have a full-on orgasm, The Goop Lab gives viewers a direct look at the different shapes, forms, and colors of the human vulva. Its extremely rare to see such things in entertainment outside of porn, let alone on Netflix, and it goes a long way to helping tackle the way that womens bodies and desires are scorned and made shameful by society.

In episode 4, Paltrow and her team undertake diet changes and new beauty treatments to see if they can slow down their internal aging process. Alongside a period of intermittent fasting as part of a supposed cleansing diet that consists of as little as 500-800 calories of food per day, Paltrow undergoes a treatment morbidly nicknamed the Vampire Facial. This infamous beauty therapy has been tried by various major celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, who reacted very negatively to it and has admitted she regrets ever trying it. The facial involves the removal of the patients own blood, which is then separated from the plasmaand re-injected into their face. Medical opinions arent exactly united on whether this treatment truly provides the anti-aging benefits it espouses. A New Mexico clinic offering the vampire facial also recently faced a HIV infection crisis through the treatment. The Goop Lab seems to show the treatment more for the novelty value of its name than any possible benefits, since Paltrow doesnt look any different after receiving it.

The Goop Lab episode 5is dedicated to the deeply eyebrow-raising practice of energy healing. Energy healer John Amaral is shown mostly waving his hands over people's bodies without touching them, claiming that this process can help to remove both physical and emotional pain from people. Dancer Julianne Hough turns up randomly as a guest star and devotee of energy healing, and the audience watches as she groans and contorts like Linda Blair from The Exorcist during this intensely loopy process.

The Goop Lab continues to insist that it is merely asking questions and offering viewers an insight into something new, but it's clear from episodes like this that they blindly believe deeply questionable ideas and never push back against the outlandish claims made. Not one mention is made of the placebo effect, which is widely considered to be one of the most active forces in such "healings". There is some benefit to placebos as a way to help people relax and overcome anxiety, but it is not a cure and shouldn't be positioned as such.

By the seasons final episode, The Goop Lab has entirely given up pretenses of vague skepticism and dives headfirst into the truly loopy by offering up psychic mediums as the new cure-all treatment. Laura Lynne Jackson, a self-described psychic medium, offers readings to the Goop staff. Any attempts the show had made to be informative go out the window with this obvious manipulation, and the show's implication that psychic readings, which are essentially cold readings that any critical thinker can do, are equivalent in scientific and medical validity to deep breathing techniques is deeply dangerous.

Its also manipulative when said psychic pretends they have connections to peoples dead relatives. The effectiveness of such supposedly psychic activity is rooted in the Barnum Effect, wherein people are susceptible to believing that the most general descriptions ("Hmm, I sense a letter... A?") apply specifically to them. The entertainment with this episode comes from the one Goop staff skeptic who goes along with the reading and doesn't buy into any of it. They are the true hero of this series.

Now that summer is creeping up on us, its time to get in some serious shape because bikini season is officially upon us. Luckily, you dont need to stress because some of our favorite stars shared with Us Weekly, their fitness tips on how to look good and feel good. From eating healthy to exercise, you have to here what the celebs do to stay in shape and look toned.

1. Demi Lovato: I feel the most confident when Im in the gym. Whenever Im training, whether its boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai or jujitsu. And I stay confident with daily affirmations looking in the mirror, telling myself Im beautiful no matter what, just learning to accept my flaws for what they are and knowing that my curves are beautiful and I am who I am.

2. Kate Hudson: I do transcendental meditation and then I do a lot of breathing awareness and kundalini. My workout is all different kinds of things. Im all over the place, but I love to dance. Im always trying to get better. And Im obsessed with Peleton bike.

3. Simone Biles: Dancing changed my body. But I also havent worked out and Ive been eating whatever I want! Dancing helped keep me in shape, we trained 6 hours a day, and Ive stayed the same weight.

4. Lea Michele: I work out to feel food. Im that person in the front row of SoulCycle, singing songs on the top of my lungs, poorly. After, I feel great. She also said that she would love to work out with Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian because their snaps look so fun!

5. Julianne Hough: Not only does Julianne love CorePower Yoga, she said eating what you love is important, too. I think when you deprive yourself, thats when you crave pasta and pizza. Pick the right carbs and have a little bit.

6. Ashley Graham: If Im feeling heavier or not confident, I give myself affirmations. Ive really gotten good at what works for me. Everyone is different. Mine are: You are bold. You are brilliant. You are beautiful. If theres a place on my body that Im really not liking, Ill touch it and say, Its OK. I feel most confident with my body when Im treating it well.

7. Leann Rimes: Her go-to workout is SoulCycle and shes over strict diets, Now that Im older, I just want to enjoy life.

8. Jamie Chung: I used to work out to look a certain way in my 20s. But in my 30s, its working out to feel a certain way, to have the release of endorphins and feel good. Its also something very social for me now.

9. Aja Naomi King: My beauty secret is water, water and more water as well as a positive outlook. I do my best to work out a little bit every day, which includes a yoga or cycling class if I have time. I also have my own bike at home, which helps.

10. Kaley Cuoco: Kaleys go-to spot is CorePower Yoga where she goes 3 times a week to do toning moves like eagle crunches, side plank, mountain climbers, and bicycle crunches.
