Oklahomans! It's time to shed those extra pounds for summer.

Starting Tuesday, June 13, FOX 25 and the Oklahoma City County Health Department are teaming up for an initiative we're calling "Take It Off Oklahoma."

It's a three-month long weight loss challenge. Each participant who joins the competition will be given a goal to lose five percent of their body weight during the three-month period.

On the first Tuesday of each month, you will come back to weigh in, which allows OCCHD to monitor your progress. Tune into FOX 25 every Tuesday for tips from experts in the field. Additionally, new content will be added each week to http://www.okcfox.com on how to meet your weight-loss goals.

Oklahoma ranks as the 8th most obese state in the country, and 29% of metro-area residents qualify as obese.

At the end of June and July, everyone who weighs in will automatically be entered to win a $50 Buy For Less gift card. There will be one winner at each location, North and South. At the end of the three months, everyone who meets their five percent weight-loss goal will be entered to win a $100 Buy For Less gift card. There will be one winner at each location, North and South.

Finally, at the end of the three months, the person who loses the most weight, by percentage, will be crowned the biggest loser and win a $250 Buy For Less gift card!
