A report entitled towards sustainable food: a major health, social, territorial and environmental challenge for France, published by the French Senates committee for forward planning, advocates a more sober and more vegetable diet.

It suggests to "clean up the food supply by encouraging or forcing the reformulation of recipes for industrial dishes (limitation of salt, sugar or saturated fat)".

The report won cross-party approval, and with President Macrons governments parliamentarians backing the proposal, it is expected to be turned into law.

France may be renowned for its unique gastronomic heritage, but in the report the senators highlighted research showing that the pre-cooked meal market had risen by an average of 4.4% a year since 1960, while the time spent by the French in their kitchens had dropped by a quarter over the past 25 years. The report added that with an ageing population and more people living alone, pre-cooked meals were likely to continue growing at least until 2025.

Our diet has become richer in energy and animal products, and further processed and (even now ultra-transformed) by industry, said the senators. Food consumption away from home is also a lot more developed. At the same time as our plates, it is our symbolic links to diet that have changed. It is likely that many of the traits of our food will last, because they are linked to [strong] sociological and economic trends, a change in our lifestyles which seems irreversible.

The report complained that healthy and eco-sustainable food could only be enjoyed by affluent people. Low-income households have concentrated health problems linked to overly rich and unbalanced food inherited from the twentieth century, it said.

The senators have proposed a food tax similar to the soda tax in France introduced in 2013, and which was increased in 2017. The senators propose to "tax, on the model of the soda tax, certain foods because of their poor nutritional quality (for example those classified D or E in the Nutriscore). They said the proceeds of the tax would be used to fund nutrition education and healthy food vouchers that people could use to buy fresh fruits or vegetables. They said they envisioned to clean up the food supply by encouraging or by forcing the reformulation of revenues industrial dishes (limitation of salt, sugar or saturated fat), by regulating the supply of snacking of vending machines, generalizing nutrition labellingand environmental, by banning products displaying a Nutriscore D or E in the promotional corridors of large surfaces or by regulating food advertising television or cinema to children.

Jean-Luc Fichet, one of the senators who wrote the report, also said: There are good grounds for legislating to improve the recipes produced by the industry.

The senators proposed 20 measures in total including fewer imports of protein, in particular the case of soy intended for animal feed. They called for legume recipes be put back in the spotlight in the kitchen and for investment to develop more productive legume varieties and less sensitive to hazards. They added they said they wanted to support research efforts independent scientist to measure health effects of pesticide residues and food additives used by industry.

The river-cleaning project is part of The Ocean Cleanup's overall goal to reduce the amount of trash in the ocean. CEO Boyan Slat founded the organization in 2013 to create an open-ocean device that would remove all plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in five years. After many iterations and much media attention and criticism from scientists, a 160-meter (525-foot) test design collected and retained ocean plastic for the first time in October last year.

Over the course of the project, many scientists encouraged the organization to focus its efforts on rivers, where they said a cleanup device would be more effective. TOC took heed in 2015, when it began developing the Interceptor.

The Interceptor is powered by solar panels atop its white exterior shell. Each device's unique number is painted on one of its long sleek sides, facing to the banks of the river. At water level, a long waste barrier protrudes upstream, allowing the force of the current to push trash toward the device's mouth. There, a conveyor belt lifts debris out of the water and deposits it onto a platform inside the device that shuttles trash to one of six dumpsters. Once the containers are full, a local team takes them to shore to be emptied.

The latest Interceptor design can extract 50,000 kilograms (110,000 pounds) of plastic per day double that under "optimal conditions" and can hold 50 cubic meters (1,770 cubic feet) of garbage, according to TOC's website. The prototype in Jakarta has about one-fourth to one-fifth that capacity, and holds the trash in small crates instead of dumpsters. As a result, it needs to be maintained and emptied more frequently.

During the Interceptor's splashy unveiling event last October in Rotterdam, Slat called it the first "integrated system that you can bring anywhere in the world and install within days."

That's just not so, according to John Kellett, founder and president of Clearwater Mills LLC. In 2014, Kellett installed a device called the Waterwheel Powered Trash Interceptor in the Jones River in Baltimore, Maryland. This device, dubbed "Mr. Trash Wheel," uses booms to funnel trash to its mouth and a conveyor belt to lift trash out of the water. A key difference from TOC's Interceptor is that a water wheel powers the conveyor belt and solar-powered water pumps keep the wheel going when the current is weak. Due to its success, Baltimore now has three trash wheels, and Clearwater Mills is working in California, Texas and Panama to bring its design worldwide.

"They were aware of our efforts, experience and success when they developed their river device in secret and publicly dismissed it while borrowing heavily from our technology," Kellett told Mongabay of TOC.

In an email addressing these claims that Kellett shared with Mongabay, he informed TOC that Clearwater Mills had patented its device's design more than a decade ago. Kellett also told TOC that he thought their changes "make it more expensive, less effective and harder to maintain."

"We would love to see that the resources and efforts allocated to this global crisis are used effectively and that we are not duplicating efforts or working at cross purposes," he told Mongabay.

Worp acknowledged that the two devices share similar elements, but said TOC started its design from scratch. "It would be like saying one car is the same as all the others," he said. "We obviously know about the other systems that are out there, but we've really taken this from a different angle to find a scalable, high capacity, high efficiency solution."

According to Kellett, TOC has approached some of the organizations that Clearwater Mills is working with outside Baltimore to offer them an Interceptor instead. Worp denied this, and told Mongabay that his team doesn't see any other solutions as competitive.

Getting the Public Involved in Trash

For both organizations, finding a solution to river pollution goes beyond the cleanup devices.

"They're providing an opportunity to educate the public and inspire people to become part of the solution," Kellett said of the three devices his company deployed in Baltimore, which have spurred countless local environmental activities and educational programs.

According to Worp, several school groups have visited the Interceptor prototype in Jakarta. Community engagement is important to The Ocean Cleanup because it ultimately relies on local organizations to operate and maintain the devices.

Some scientists are skeptical about TOC's goal of targeting so many rivers in vastly different parts of the world. Andrew Gray, a hydrologist at the University of California, Riverside, studies small mountainous watersheds that expel a large amount of sediment to the ocean during strong storms. These storms can be destructive to any man-made device, he said.

"[These storms] that are probably discharging most of the plastics, are the kinds of events that you're not going to have a trash boom up because the hydrodynamics are far too aggressive," he said.

Gray also said the Interceptor would need to be incredibly versatile to accommodate a variety of river sizes.

Win Cowger, a graduate student in Gray's lab, pointed out the unpredictability of natural systems.

"Whenever you apply one solution one device to a broad range of ecosystems and a broad range of circumstances, it tends to have some implications that you might not have expected," he said.

Rainy Days in Jakarta

Early this year, Jakarta experienced one of its worst flooding disasters in recent years. Torrential rain, with a record-breaking intensity, showered Greater Jakarta for almost 16 hours through New Year's Eve and into New Year's Day. Most of the city's rivers flooded their surroundings. The Interceptor was found damaged after its waste barrier broke loose.

The water volume in the Cengkareng drain increased significantly, but never overflowed its banks, according to Muhammad Khusen, the leader of a waste-collecting worker group in the subdistrict where the Interceptor is located. He said it was the river's strong current that damaged the device's waste barrier, but TOC engineers were able to repair it the following day.

When Mongabay visited the device a few weeks later, in February, the rains were constant, albeit less intense than at the start of the year. While the Interceptor was undamaged, waste had piled up on the barrier and clogged up the device's opening.

Workers were using long poles to try to break up the clog, which included a lot of large organic material like branches, bamboo and banana tree trunks, and feed the debris bit by bit into the Interceptor.

A team of three workers has been assigned to collect the trash and maintain the device every day, Khusen said. But on the day of Mongabay's visit, he had to call in reinforcements. As many as 10 workers were on hand throughout the afternoon to help clean up the collected debris after an earlier attempt failed to get much done. When the workers went home at 3 p.m., only about 20 percent of the trapped debris had been taken out.

Workers and officials told Mongabay it was impractical to collect all of the trapped debris, largely because of the configuration of the device. For instance, Khusen said the waste-trapping barrier was so thin that his crew couldn't stand on it to push or pull the debris into the device's mouth. He said he preferred pontoon-style barriers they can stand on.

Another challenge is the 2-meter (6.6-foot) opening of the processor, which Khusen said is too small for large waste to freely pass. Sometimes, he said, he has to call in additional human resources to handle big items, like a sofa, spring bed, and even a dead cow that turned up.

"I thought this device was sophisticated," Khusen told Mongabay. "Apparently, there's still so much manual work needed. I'd say it still has a lot of shortfalls."

Lambas Sigalingging, head of operations at the North Jakarta water department, shared similar sentiments. Lambas said the device's lack of movement made it unsuitable for rivers in Jakarta that rarely have much current unless it rains.

"So, if we don't [actively] catch the debris, how is it going to clean itself? Meanwhile, the Interceptor is standing still," he told Mongabay in a phone interview. "This device would be effective, I think, if the current was strong."

Lambas said Jakarta's environment agency owns three waste-trapping barriers installed upstream from the Interceptor in the Cengkareng drain. His own team operates other devices in the city's rivers, including garbage-collecting boats made by the German company BERKY, excavators, and floating polyethylene barriers. Some of these needed less labor to operate than the Interceptor, he said.

Lambas said he has shared the challenges his team faces operating the Interceptor with The Ocean Cleanup team at meetings. But he said he hasn't seen much improvement to the device yet. According to Lambas, the device's trial run has been extended twice first until December and then until this April.

"But I must stress this with you: I'm not the one to say whether the Interceptor is effective or efficient," Lambas said. "I can't answer that because there's the [TOC] research team that assesses its efficiency and effectiveness."

Worp said the Interceptor is effective in the Cengkareng drain and has removed a large amount of trash that the booms upstream could not. He also told Mongabay that TOC is talking with operators in Jakarta to assess what happened during the heavy rains earlier this year, and that his team does respond to feedback from workers. For example, he said, TOC replaced labor-intensive collection bags with crates last year.

He also reiterated that the device in Jakarta is a prototype, and the lessons learned from it have led to adjustments to the second generation of Interceptors, such as the ability to accommodate larger debris loads.

However, he admitted the Interceptor will not suit every river. "It is definitely not the solution for all, and we will be looking at further solutions as we tackle more and more rivers going forward," he said.

According to TOC's website, the group is now coordinating with governments around the world to begin deploying Interceptors on a large scale.

You understand the negative impact of processed foods and the inflammation sugar can cause in your body, but youre wondering if the ketogenic diet is the best choice to keep your energy levels up for the day ahead.As defined on Medical News Today, "The keto diet is an eating plan that focuses on foods that provide a lot of healthy fats, adequate amounts of proteinand very few carbohydrates. The goal is to get more calories from fat than from carbs." For most people wanting to shed some pounds and kick the sugar habit, its a win-win call to action, and the ketogenic diet is a great, therapeutic way to get you started and see results.

There are other benefits as well. Researchers are now using the ketogenic diet alongside cancer treatments to help reduce blood glucose, which in turns reduces the insulin hormone that can cause complications in certain cancers. People on the diet also experienced a significant drop in levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol, and triglycerides, as well asan increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or good cholesterol.

Its also been proven that the ketonescreated in our liver help create a protective barrier for neurological functions. Many scientistsare now using it in Alzheimer's studies, with excellent results.Thats obviously very promising and motivating, but is this diet for everyone?

In The Politics of Weight: Feminist Dichotomies of Power in Dieting, Amelia Morris challenges the degree to which feminist debates about dieting often take the form of a binary whereby (womens) bodies are either sites of oppression or liberation. Instead, drawing on interviews with dieters, analyses of dieting programme materials, fat activism and black feminist scholarship, the book posits a more ambivalent middle ground, arguing for a promising path tonuanced understanding of how our bodies are shaped in relation to power and diet culture, writes Megan Dean.

For decades feminists have criticised weight-loss dieting, accusing it of (among other things) reinforcing unrealistic and harmful body ideals, distracting from meaningful social and political engagement and being a tool of the patriarchy. Recently, body-positivity activists, including celebrities like actor Jameela Jamil, have spread their anti-dieting messages through social media, reaching new generations with the encouragement to reject dieting and love ones body as it is.

And yet, many people still diet. In the United States, 49.1 per cent of adults and 56.4 per cent of women tried to lose weight between 2013 and 2016. Ten of the top eleven strategies used toward that end were changes to diet. We have to assume that at least some of these dieters are aware of feminist objections to dieting. Indeed, Susan Bordo, whose book Unbearable Weight offers a canonical critique of dieting and weight-loss culture, has herself acknowledged participation in a commercial weight-loss dieting programme. Bordo is certainly not the only feminist who has considered joining Weight Watchers.

But why would anyone who thinks that dieting is a tool of the patriarchy go on a diet? Why would they engage in a practice that reinforces body norms they themselves reject? In short, why is knowing better not enough when it comes to dieting?

Amelia Morris explores these questions in her book The Politics of Weight: Feminist Dichotomies of Power in Dieting. Morris, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy at Royal Holloway University, situates what Ill call the ambivalent dieter within a broader feminist debate about the status of the body and its relation to power. As Morris characterises it, the main positions within this debate take the form of a dichotomy: bodiesspecifically, womens bodiesare either sites of oppression or opportunities for the exercise of liberty. Morris identifies the former perspective with radical feminists, such as Susan Brownmiller and Germaine Greer, and the latter with liberal and post-feminist scholars and writers, including Naomi Wolf, Catharine Lumby and Katie Roiphe.

Morris herself supports a third, post-structuralist position, which she identifies with Michel Foucault and feminist theorists like Sandra Bartky, Judith Butler and Bordo. According to this perspective, the body has a more ambivalent relationship to power than either side of the dichotomy suggests. Bodies exist, Morris writes, within a middle-ground of power (19). This middle ground is characterised by the claims that power works on and through the body in more subtle, mundane and insidious ways than oppression proponents would have it, and that the experience of freedom in relation to ones body is neither as attainable as the liberation side suggests nor a reliable sign that one is in fact free from pernicious forms of power.

The Politics of Weight argues that we should use this middle-ground approach to understand womens engagement in weight-loss dieting. Morris takes an interdisciplinary approach to this task, using interviews with British women dieters, body-positivity activists and fat-positive activists to highlight womens conflicted understandings and experiences of dieting, and the challenges of ridding oneself of an attachment to thinness as a source of happiness, comfort and confidence, even when one believes one should.

The first two chapters of the book discuss Morriss methodology and introduce the broader feminist debate about the body. In Chapter Three, The Dichotomy of Power in Dieting, Morris explores how this debate applies to weight-loss dieting in particular, and begins to make her case for a Foucauldian feminist approach. She does this in part by using interviews with dieters and analyses of dieting-programme materials to highlight some of the quintessentially disciplinary aspects of dieting, including the use of panoptic surveillance and the confession of dietary transgressions and weight gain to peers and group leaders at weight-loss meetings.

Morris is careful to point out that the feminist Foucauldian literature she favours has often ignored the relevance of race to the effects of power on the body. In Chapter Four, The O Factor: Foucault, Race, and Oprahs Body Journey, Morris attempts to address this gap through engagement with black feminist scholarship on the topic of Oprah Winfreys weight-loss projects. Morris highlights the ways that racist stereotypes like the Mammy and Jezebel structure understandings of black womens bodies. She suggests that the white hostility and ambivalence that met Oprahs dramatic weight loss can be understood as a response to Oprahs visible shift away from what white audiences perceived as a non-threatening, nurturing Mammy image. In this chapter and elsewhere, it is sometimes challenging to distinguish Morriss original contributions from her detailed discussion of the existing literature. Nonetheless, this chapter addresses an important issue and will point readers to some fascinating work on race and diet, such as Cheryl Thompsons 2015 paper, Neoliberalism, Soul Food, and the Weight of Black Women.

Chapter Five, Fat Activism and Body Positivity: Freedom from Dieting? will be of most interest to readers grappling with the complexities of resisting diet culture. Morris draws on fat-activist literature and practice to suggest that the insistence that we unequivocally love our bodies and reject dieting without ever looking back betrays a misunderstanding of how power works.

According to the Foucauldian picture Morris endorses, our subjectivities are shaped by our practices, including dieting. We can reject dieting but be left with emotions and self-understandings that have been shaped by that practice. This chapter draws attention to the ways fat activism can help reshape these aspects of subjectivity, while highlighting how widespread fatphobia limits such self-transformation. Rachel, a fat-activist performance artist, explains the limits of her work:

I dont think any of my work makes me feel liberated, because of re-opening that wound. You can make the space as safe as you want but weve all got to go outside afterwards and I cant make outside safe for me or for any of you.

Morriss discussion underscores the complications of resistance and the importance of a compassionate and nuanced understanding of how deeply many womennot to mention men and non-binary individualsare affected by diet culture.

Those acquainted with this area of research will find the books positions familiar, drawn from feminist and Foucauldian theorists Ive already mentioned as well as Fat Studies scholars like Samantha Murray. Throughout the book, Morriss interviews are mainly used to support rather than complicate or develop theoretical claims made by others. Some may hope for more dynamic engagement between theory and empirical work than is offered here. But the value of gathering relevant empirical evidence for theoretical claims should not be underestimated, and many theorists do not have the professional training to do so themselves.

While the books interdisciplinary approach and subject will be of interest to scholars in many different fields, I hesitate to recommend the book to those unfamiliar with the literature. The book suffers from poor copy-editing, which at times undermines the readability and reliability of the work. Of particular note are some significant citation issues that those new to the subject may not have the resources to recognise, such as a misquotation of Simone de Beauvoir on page 39.

Overall, though, The Politics of Weight tackles a topic of ongoing importance. Having a nuanced and accurate understanding of how our bodies are shaped in relation to power and diet culture is central to treating ourselves and others with compassion and respect. Such an understanding can also help us recognise what is needed to create the conditions so that knowing better can translate into doing better when it comes to dieting. The Politics of Weight argues for a promising path to this very worthy goal.

New diet, improved health have Seahawks receiver Kasen Williams flying higher than ever – The Seattle Times

Kasen Williams credits some changes to his off-season diet and conditioning regimen for his impressive showing in Sunday's pre-season opener.

The Seattle Seahawks under Pete Carroll have thrived on devising ways to best use a players most defining and unique talent.

And when it comes to receiver Kasen Williams, that singular talent has been evident for years.

Kasen has shown us the ability to get off the ground, Carroll said Tuesday. He has been a leaper all the way back to when he was in high school.

Sunday, Williams put that talent to use in a way that might also prove to be a true jumping off point in his NFL career.

Williams has mostly been a practice squad player during his two-plus years with the Seahawks, though when injuries hit the receiving corps late in the season he has found himself on the 53-man roster at the end of each of the last two years, officially playing in three regular season games and all four in the playoffs.

But a new season also means a new challenge to make the roster, especially with the Seahawks adding the likes of third-round pick Amara Darboh to the receiving group as well as bringing back basically everyone who was on the team at the end of 2016.

Its a really good group, Carroll said Tuesday. Well just see what happens.

Sunday, though, it was Williams who made something happen, using the leaping ability that allowed him to win 4A state titles in the long, high and triple jumps as a senior at Skyline High to make four highlight-reel catches, each one seemingly more spectacular than the next good for 119 yards as the Seahawks beat the Chargers 48-17.

Thrilling to see him make those plays, Carroll said. Thats not surprising because we see him do it (in practice). What was great is that he got a chance to do it in the game and show that he can do that.

Williams had little chance to show that last preseason when he was bothered by a nagging hamstring injury that limited him to one game and no catches and led to his release at the final cutdown time before he was later brought back to the practice squad and ultimately onto the active roster for the final game of the regular season.

The health struggles of last preseason led to an off-season revelation for Williams.

You hear a lot of people in the NFL say the best ability is availability, Williams said.

Williams, of course, is all too familiar with the training room having seen his UW career derailed by a devastating broken leg and displaced foot injury in 2013.

Williams says any lingering effects of that stopped being an issue as soon as I had the Seahawks logo on my chest. My rookie year (in 2015) I was ready.

The kind of injury he suffered at UW is an unfortunate reality of football, the kind of thing he couldnt do anything about.

But after what happened last preseason after Williams had earned raves for his work in the offseason and seemed in position to make a legitimate run at a roster spot Williams decided to do whatever it took to get his body in the best possible position to make it through camp healthy.

Even if Im not hurting Im spending time in the rehab room just to make sure everything is in line, Williams said.

Williams also changed his eating habits saying he switched to a diet heavier in fruits in vegetables including frequent stops at Pressed Juicery in Bellevue.

Vegetables, fruit, all that asparagus, Williams said of the juices he drinks. It was just the biggest improvement I made. I lost 5-6-7 pounds off just eating right.

He missed a couple of days early on with a slight foot injury but otherwise has made it through camp this year healthy.

And Sunday, when the likes of Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett and Darboh all sat out with injuries, Williams was ready when his number was called not once but four times.

All four catches came on fade routes thrown by backup QB Trevone Boykin, with Williams each time winning battles with Chargers rookie cornerback Michael Davis for the ball.

I seen the ball in the air, Im locked in, said Williams, who said he also caught an additional 100 passes during workouts this offseason compared to past years. Nothing else matters at the time. Nothing else is important. The DB is not even there. Im just focusing on the ball.

Watching from home, Baldwin marveled at what he saw.

Extremely happy for Kasen Williams and all his efforts, all his work, Baldwin said. Hes worked tirelessly to come back from injuries to get his opportunities and he got to display that. I couldnt be happier for him just because the man he is. Hes had an uphill climb and hes done it with grace. Hes just been patient and waited for his opportunity and I was so excited for him to be able to see him get his opportunity finally and do extremely well with it.

Given the depth at receiver, Williams may need to show it was not just a one-time thing if hes going to make the regular season roster.

Williams says its not something he worries about, that if he does what hes supposed to that will take care of itself.

But then he also makes a statement that sounds like he feels pretty good about where its headed.

I do feel like Im in my prime even though Ive gone through some injuries and whatever, he said. Those are all in the past and I feel like Ive got a great handle on what I need to do to get my body 100 percent ready and I feel like the sky is the limit.

Have you heard of the blood type diet? I thought it had been debunked long ago but patients keep asking about it, so I figured I should learn more.

In 1996 Peter DAdamo, a naturopathic physician, published a book in which he described how people could be healthier, live longer, and achieve their ideal weight by eating according to their blood type. Ones choice of condiments, spices, and even exercise should depend on ones blood type. Soon, the book was a best seller and people everywhere were finding out their blood type, revising their grocery lists, and changing how they ate, exercised, and thought about their health.

Here are some of the recommendations according to the Eat Right for Your Type diet:

As mentioned, the recommendations for the blood type diets extend well beyond food choices. For example, people with type O blood are advised to choose high-intensity aerobic exercise and take supplements for their sensitive stomachs, while those with type A blood should choose low-intensity activities and include meditation as part of their routine.

High-quality studies about the blood type diet had not been published in peer-reviewed medical literature. Even now, a search in the medical literature for the authors name reveals no research pertaining to this diet. Studies published in 2013 and 2014 about the blood type diets are worth noting. The 2013 study analyzed the worlds medical literature and found no studies demonstrating benefit from a blood type diet. The 2014 study found that while people following any of the blood type diets had some improvement in certain cardiometabolic risk factors (such as cholesterol or blood pressure), those improvements were unrelated to blood type.

The theory behind this diet is that blood type is closely tied to our ability to digest certain types of foods, so that the proper diet will improve digestion, help maintain ideal body weight, increase energy levels, and prevent disease, including cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Type O was said to be the original ancestral blood type of the earliest humans who were hunter-gatherers, with diets that were high in animal protein. Group A was said to evolve when humans began to farm and had more vegetarian diets. Group B blood types were said to arise among nomadic tribes who consumed a lot of dairy products. And since Group AB blood was supposed to have evolved from the intermingling of people with types A and B blood, type AB recommendations were intermediate between those for people with types A and B blood.

Each of these theories has been challenged. For example, there is evidence that type A was actually the first blood group to evolve in humans, not type O. In addition, there is no proven connection between blood type and digestion. So, in addition to a lack of evidence that the diet works, serious questions remain about why it should work in the first place.

Its a fair question, especially since some improvements were seen in people who adopted certain blood type diets (see link above). Eating based on your blood type requires you to know your blood type and then follow a restrictive diet. Personal preferences might be a problem: a vegetarian with type O blood may struggle to stay on the assigned diet, and people who love red meat may be disappointed to learn they have type A blood. Recommended supplements are not cheap; neither are the recommended organic foods. And if you have certain health conditions, such as high cholesterol or diabetes, a nutritionist can make better evidence-based recommendations for you than those determined by your blood type.

Advocates of blood type diets may say that while the ideal study has not yet been performed, the absence of evidence doesnt prove theyre ineffective. And theres also no proof that these diets are harmful. So, my guess is that interest in the blood type diets will not disappear any time soon. But theres a reason that bookstores have rows and rows of books on diet, each claiming to be highly effective if not the best. We simply dont know which diet is best for each individual person. And even if we did, sticking to any single diet is often challenging.

Stand by its likely youll soon be hearing about yet another best diet. And my guess is that it wont have anything to do with your blood type.
