Weight loss story: I was heartbroken with the way I looked in the changing room mirror! – Times of India

Posted: January 20, 2020 at 12:43 am

When you are battling excess kilos, in addition to the rude and unwanted opinion of the people around you, it is your own lethargy and the difficulty in performing everyday tasks with ease that make your life really difficult. When 41-year-old Sumeet Malik realised that it was getting really difficult to even do the smallest chores, he decided to change his lifestyle for good. Sumeets weight loss journey is an example that you can achieve anything, once you put your mind to it.Name: Sumeet MalikOccupation: HR ManagerAge: 41 years

City: Gurgaon / PragueHeight: 5 feet 9 inchesCurrent Weight: 78 kgs

Highest weight recorded: 95 kgsWeight lost: 17 kgs

Duration it took me to lose weight: Almost 4 months

The turning point: I had been fighting the battle with obesity for good 15 years until one day I decided to take a closer look at myself in the changing room. It happened when I had gone to buy clothes for myself. I dont know what happened that day but I was shattered with the way I looked in the mirror. I realised that I needed to change my lifestyle completely in order to get back in shape. To begin the same, I completely stopped eating junk food and sweetened beverages from that day only.My breakfast: A small bowl of nuts, oats and seeds with 2 spoons of yoghurt

My lunch: A portion of grilled vegetables, grilled chicken and a bowl of lentils

My evening snack: A plate of watermelon, strawberries or two apples

My dinner: Salad with olives or paneer or poached eggs without oilI indulge in: I do not believe in the concept of cheat days.

My workout: I work out for two hours almost every day without fail. I hit the gym for an hour in the morning and work out for an hour in the evening as well. Gradually, as I developed more stamina, I replaced my morning workout routine with running.

Low calories recipes I swear by: I vouch on grilled salmon and grilled chicken breastFitness Secrets I unveiled:

1. Running, even at a slow pace, can do wonders for your body

2. Completely eliminate sugar and white flour from your diet

3. Do not have dinner after 1900 hours

4. Keep a record of your calorie intakeHow do I stay motivated? To make sure that I stayed right on the path of fitness, I monitored my weight regularly and weighed myself every Friday.

How do you ensure you dont lose focus? I make it a point to monitor my weight constantly and keep a count of all the calories I intake.Whats the most difficult part of being overweight? I realised that I was getting really lazy and lethargic as I gained all the extra kilos. Moreover, even simple tasks like going grocery shopping seemed really hard. I also began to avoid upward incline on the road because it seemed like too much work. However, the most difficult part was all the unsolicited comments on my body weight and protruding belly from friends and strangers.

A series of new photos of Chris Brown baby mama have surfaced online, and it seems that she has managed to drop the weight.

The model happily showed off her flat stomach in a white crop top and matching pants. Many rushed in the comment section to praise Aekos mom on her figure.

A backer shared: Chris did do better he got him a woman that carries herself in the right way .shes never half-naked, I have yet to see her post anything to where it looks like shes crossing boundaries or disrespecting her man .shes what a man would want in a future wife or anything and shes barely in the spotlight. Average is good! We all need to take notes.

Rihannas name came up in another comment: Rihanna could neverrrrrrrrrrrr.

This social media user shared: Actually, my boy, Chris, did a helluva job with @ammikaaa . I think you just mad cause she looks above averageShe is just naturally beautiful on God!

Meanwhile, it is being claimed that for several reasons, Chris is focused on Rihanna, who recently split from Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel and because of the 2009 assault case.

A source told Hollywood Life: Chris still has a very strong connection to anything that comes with Rihanna, so the news that shes single again is a big deal for him. Its bad timing, to say the least because hes in such a good place with Ammika. Theyre trying to see where things could go with them, and throwing Rihanna into the mix is going to end any chance of that working out.

The insider went on to say: Rihanna is [Chris] first love, in a lot of ways, it would be a dream come true for him to get her back. The odds of it actually happening are very, very low. That ship has sailed, and everyone is hoping Chris is smart enough to realize that.

The pal concluded by: Around this time for Chris, it is hard not to think about Rihanna. We are getting close to the Grammys, and that is when the incident between the two happened, so he always takes this time to reflect on himself and see how much he has changed.

How to Lose Weight Fast – Quick & Easy Weight Loss Tips

Posted: January 20, 2020 at 12:41 am

Lose 5 pounds in one week! It's a trope we see everywhere. And while its possible that someone can lose that much (if not more) in that time period, it really depends on your metabolism and loads of other factors, including physical activity and body composition, all of which are entirely unique to you.

Weight loss ultimately comes back to the concept of calories in, calories out: Eat less than you burn and youll lose weight. And while its possible to lose water weight quickly on a low-carb diet, I certainly wouldnt advocate for it. The diet itself can trick you into thinking that this eating style is working when really, you might gain back what you lost as soon as you eat carbs again. That can feel incredibly dispiriting if you want results that last longer than a week.

Based on my experience in nutrition counseling, most of us tend to snack on foods that arent nutrient-dense, but are high in calories. For example, skipping sugary beverages is often the easiest way to lose weight faster. You dont feel full from drinks even the ones that do contain calories so swapping those out for sparkling water or unsweetened tea and coffee is the best place to start. Other major culprits often come in refined grains like cereals, chips, crackers, and cookies.

If you're looking to speed up weight loss, I'd also encourage you to be mindful of the foods you eat that you don't choose for yourself. Think: food pushers at work or your kids leftovers. Noticing where your extra calories actually come from is another step to making better choices in the short and long term.

In my experience, there are a few other tips that hold true for almost all of us across the board and theyre concepts that we can put into practice beginning right now.

So, heres where to start:

Its that simple, I promise! If you think about making any meal mostly veggies (at least 50% of anything that youre having), youre on the right track to better health and weight loss.

All meals are important, but breakfast is what helps you start your day on the right track. The best, heartiest breakfasts are ones that will fill you up, keep you satisfied, and stave off cravings later in the day. Aim to eat anywhere between 400 and 500 calories for your morning meal, and make sure you're including a source of lean protein plus filling fat (e.g., eggs, unsweetened Greek yogurt, nuts, or nut butters) and fiber (veggies, fruit, or 100% whole grains). Starting your day with a blood sugar-stabilizing blend of nutrients will help you slim down without sacrifice.

Since salt is a preservative, packaged and processed foods are often highest in sodium something to keep in mind when planning your meals. When it comes by buying snacks, a "low sodium" product has to be 140 mg or less per serving so if you're REALLY in a bind, you can follow that guideline for what to put in your cart.

Start your day with a cup of joe. Caffeine is a natural diuretic and an excellent source of antioxidants, which protect your cells from damage. You can have up to 400 mg about a venti Starbucks coffee daily, according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Not much of a coffee drinker? Tea is also a natural diuretic, and types of herbal tea such as dandelion or fennel root can also lend a hand. In fact: When a recent study compared the metabolic effect of green tea (in extract) with that of a placebo, researchers found that the green-tea drinkers burned about 70 additional calories in a 24-hour period.

We just don't feel full by liquid calories in quite the same way as we do real food. Drinking a juice or caramel coffee drink just isn't as satisfying as eating a bowl of veggie- and protein-packed stir-fry. So monitor your intake of juice, soda, sweetened coffee and tea, and alcoholic beverages. If you consume each of those beverages during the day, you'll have taken in at least 800 extra calories by nighttime and you'll still be hungry. (Incidentally, alcohol may suppress the metabolism of fat, making it tougher for you to burn those calories.)

5-Pound Dumbbells (Pair)

$17.58

It's a one-time investment you'll never regret. Here's why: Strength training builds lean muscle tissue, which burns more calories at work or at rest 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The more lean muscle you have, the faster you'll slim down. How do you start strength training? Try some push-ups or a few squats or lunges. Use your free weights to perform simple bicep curls or tricep pulls right in your home or office. Do these exercises three to four times per week, and you'll soon see a rapid improvement.

It can actually help you cut back on calories. That's because capsaicin, a compound found in jalapeo and cayenne peppers, may (slightly) increase your body's release of stress hormones such as adrenaline, which can speed up your ability to burn calories. What's more, eating hot peppers may help slow you down. You're less likely to wolfed down that plate of spicy spaghetti and therefore stay more mindful of when you're full. Some great adds besides hot peppers: ginger and turmeric.

There's tons of research that demonstrates getting less than the desired amount about 7 hours of sleep per night can slow down your metabolism. Plus, when you're awake for longer, you're naturally more likely to snack on midnight munchies. So don't skimp on your ZZZ's, and you'll be rewarded with an extra edge when it comes to losing weight.

Loads of research demonstrates people who log everything they eat especially those who log while they're eating are more likely to lose weight and keep it off for the long haul. The habit also takes less than 15 minutes per day on average when you do it regularly, according to a 2019 study published in Obesity.

Start tracking on an app like MyFitnessPal or use a regular notebook. It'll help you stay accountable for what you've eaten. Plus, you can easily identify some other areas of your daily eats that could use a little improvement when it's written out in front of you.

Don't get me wrong exercising at any time is good for you. But evening activity may be particularly beneficial because many people's metabolism slows down toward the end of the day. Thirty minutes of aerobic activity before dinner increases your metabolic rate and may keep it elevated for another two or three hours, even after you've stopped moving. Plus, it'll help you relax post-meal so you won't be tempted by stress-induced grazing that can rack up calories.

Skipping meals will not make you lose weight faster. If a hectic day makes a sit-down meal impossible, stash a piece of fruit and pack of nut butter in your car or purse and keep snacks in your office desk drawer anything that will keep you from going hungry!

Going long periods of time without food does double-duty harm on our healthy eating efforts by both slowing down your metabolism, and priming you for another binge later in the day. (Think: You've skipped breakfast and lunch, so you're ready to takedown a whole turkey by dinner!) Make it your mission to eat three meals and two snacks every day, and don't wait longer than three to four hours without eating. Set a "snack alarm" on your phone if needed.

Sure, you certainly need to drink plenty of water to help combat bloating, you can (and should!) also consume high-water content foods. Reach for cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, asparagus, grapes, celery, artichokes, pineapple, and cranberries all of which contain diuretic properties that will also help you stay full due to their higher fiber content.

Potassium, magnesium, and calcium can help to serve as a counter-balance for sodium. Foods that are rich in potassium include leafy greens, most "orange" foods (oranges, sweet potatoes, carrots, melon), bananas, tomatoes, and cruciferous veggies especially cauliflower. Low-fat dairy, plus nuts, and seeds can also help give you a bloat-busting boost. They've also been linked to a whole host of additional health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, controlling blood sugar, and reducing risk of chronic disease overall.

Dressing on the Side (and Other Diet Myths Debunked)

At any given time, there are dozens of weight-loss hypes in the marketplace that claim to take off 10 pounds in 10 days, or whatever. Desperation can tempt us to try anything from "clean eating" to cutting out food groups entirely. Keep in mind: Just because an avocado-kale-salad dripping in coconut oil is deemed "clean" by a so-called "expert" on your Instagram feed does not make it an unlimited food. Moral of the story? Avoid fads, eat real food, watch some Netflix, and unwind (perhaps with a glass of wine in hand). Now that's my kind of detox.

You already know that a perfect diet doesn't exist, but many of us still can't resist the urge to kick ourselves when we indulge, eat too much, or get thrown off course from restrictive diets. The problem: This only makes it more difficult, stressful, and downright impossible to lose weight. So rather than beating yourself up for eating foods you think you shouldn't, let it go. Treating yourself to about 200 calories worth of deliciousness each day something that feels indulgent to you can help you stay on track for the long haul, so allow yourself to eat, breathe, and indulge. Food should be joyful, not agonizing!

Ultimately, long-term weight loss requires some short-term behavior change and healthier habit formation. That's why we created our Good Housekeeping Nutritionist Approved Emblem, which exists to help turn smart food choices into healthier eating habits. All GHNA foods and drinks make it easier to find and eat good-for-you foods without additional time, effort, and cost. We target the lifestyle-related factors that make healthier eating hard, and find simple but creative solutions that actually work! Look for the emblem on labels wherever you shop for food.

The 5 easy ways to lose weight fast in 2020 WITHOUT going on a diet – The Sun

Posted: January 20, 2020 at 12:41 am

MANY people believe that the only way to lose weight is through gruelling gym workouts and strict diets.

However, top dietitian Susie Burrell has now revealed that blitzing body fat doesn't need to be as taxing as that.

1

And, writing in her blog, she emphasises that extreme diets "rarely keep the kilos at bay long term".

Instead, Susie, from Sydney, Australia, says that there are five simple lifestyle changes you can make to maximise your weight loss in 2020 - without you having to work too hard at all.

Here, the diet expert reveals the approaches to your diet and nutrition which will support weight loss...

Limiting the amount of time you're eating throughout the day will help you shed those pesky pounds.

Susie says: "A growing body of research shows that when we limit our eating to just eight to ten hours each day, or not eating for 14 to 16 hours of each day is a strategy that appears to support weight control minus any specific calorie counting or dietary rules.

"Committing to longer periods of time minus any calories appears to help reset some of the hormones that regulate fat metabolism in the body.

Limiting the number of total hours we eat naturally controls calorie intake

"In real life terms this translates into having an early dinner, or having your first meal later in the day as to support a longer overnight fast.

"Here the only thing you need to pay attention to is what time you are eating each day, as limiting the number of total hours we eat naturally controls calorie intake."

Eating whole foods will help you slash your daily calorie intake and blitz body fat, according to Susie.

She says: "It has been shown that consuming whole foods such as a steak as opposed to mincemeat; or wholegrain bread rather than white results in a higher calorie burn than the more processed food alternatives.

"This means that the more natural the state of the food you eat, the better it is for metabolism.

"This means enjoying vegetables and fruit whole, with the skin intact; fillets of fish, meat and chicken and whole food snacks such as nuts, fruit and yoghurt rather than processed biscuits, bars and cakes.

"Choosing whole foods also tends to reduce calorie intake overall and we reduce our intake of processed foods that tend to have added sugars and fats."

Adding more fruit and vegetables to your diet can provide you with speedyweight losswith results that are much more likely to last than fad diets.

Susie says: "Diets are often focused around what we should not be eating; need to cut back on and depending on the diet the food groups to avoid.

"Focusing on what we should not be doing can often work in reverse, resulting in an increased focus on the tempting, higher calorie foods we ideally need to cut back on to control calorie intake.

5 reasons to avoid fad diets, according to the NHS

The NHS has shared five reasons as to why following fad diets may not be a good way to lose weight.

"When we focus on boosting our overall vegetable intake, the focus is on eating more, not less and the more salad and vegetables we eat, the lower our overall calorie intake tends to be, supporting weight control.

"Think about adding vegetable sides or a juice to your breakfast, salads and soups for lunches and at least two to three cups of mixed salad and vegetables with your evening meal to significantly boost your vegetable intake."

Susie firmly believes that allowing yourself to have a little treat every now and again will help you stick to your diet.

"Diets often fail because we are lured by our favourite sweet treat, glass of wine or fail to factor in eating out as part of our regular dietary regime," Susie says.

Diets often fail because we are lured by our favourite sweet treat

"When we factor these foods into our regular meal plan, in controlled volumes, you are less likely to experience the feelings of deprivation that can be associated with stricter diets and more likely to be able to stick to your healthy eating plan the rest of the time.

"This translates into enjoying a meal out regularly, factoring in a portion controlled sweet treat after dinner, or giving yourself permission to enjoy a glass or two of wine a couple of nights each week depending on your preferred style of indulgence."

Preparing your own food rather than buying it will help you cut down on your calorie intake - and ultimately lose weight.

"Whenever we buy a meal away from home a caf lunch; food court sandwich or a home delivered meal it is likely you will be consuming at least one/three more calories and fat than the equivalent meal you would prepare for yourself at home," Susie says.

"When it comes to weight control this meals that more you are in control of your calorie intake, the lower your calorie intake is likely to be.

"This means packing more lunches, ordering less dinners at home and eating breakfast at home rather than indulging in a caf treat more than occasionally as a general strategy that supports weight control."

‘I Followed The 80-20 Diet Rule And Tracked My Macros With MyFitnessPalAnd I Lost 40 Pounds’ – Women’s Health

Posted: January 20, 2020 at 12:41 am

My name is Tahirih Thach (@fit_withtt), and I'm a 29-year-old online nutrition coach and analytical data reviewer for a manufacturing company in St. Petersburg, Florida. After being prescribed appetite suppressants to lose weight, then regaining everything I lost, I started flexible dieting, tracking macros, and weight lifting. I've lost 40 pounds.

For as long as I can remember, my weight has fluctuated based on what was going on in my life. When college came, I dealt with sleepless nights and weekend partying and I gained the infamous Freshman 15, followed by the Freshman 30.

I struggled with figuring out my path in life. I went through a period of depression, and food was my outlet. Reflecting back on that period of my life now, I realize how poorly I treated my body. I would eat McDonald's every day, almost three times a day. It seems insane to admit that now, but with the stress of school and relying on school tuition for food, I didn't have much choice back then.

At one appointment, he talked to me about using appetite suppressants. I was so uncomfortable with my body that I would've done anything to lose weight. After starting phentermine (which is used as a weight-loss drug due to the way it suppresses appetite), I started losing weight so quickly that I was almost 20 pounds down in a month.

But as you can probably guess, using diet pills was *not* sustainable. And one day, I decided to stop the pills and try to maintain my weight loss naturally. As soon as I got off of them? My appetite came back with vengeance. I put all the weight back on, and then some. I weighed more than before I started the pills.

It wasn't until years later that I found out that this appetite suppressant was usually prescribed to those were who were morbidly obese and looking to lose weight before weight-loss surgery. I still don't understand why my doctor suggested the medication to me because I felt I wasn't in dire need of it at the time. I was disappointed in myself for ever starting the prescription medication, but also glad I could now educate women on how a quick fix will never work long-term.

I tried to lose weight on my own after getting off the phentermine by upping my physical activity. But with the increased activity, I started to increase my eating because I felt like I deserved the reward of it. I added in cheat meals, which backfired in the end. Although I was doing more cardio, I was still gaining more weight. I was at my heaviest, feeling defeated. I knew I needed to change something.

I used to be an all-or-nothing type of girl with eating. But the idea of flexible dieting is exactly what it sounds like and includes the 80-20 rule, or eating nutritious good-for-you foods 80 percent of the time, and the "If It Fits Your Macros" (IIFYM) rule, which means you eat calories within your macronutrient (carbs, fat, protein) percentages. This way of eating is really a lifestyle change and less of a diet, and it really changed my thought process around eating.

Through my journey and education (I got my masters in nutrition!), I learned that in order to lose weight, you have to be in a caloric deficit. I learned that with increased activity, I personally ended up eating in a caloric surplus rather than a deficit (hence the weight gain). The flexible dieting lifestyle helped me recognize that a calorie is a calorie, and while eating nutritious foods is important, there's no reason to freak out over eating a "bad" food.

I stuck to the 80-20 and IIFYM rules consistently, though I still had days when I overate. But I never punished myself for thatI'm human. I tell people that I can have my cake and eat it too with the 80-20 rule. Eighty percent of the time I eat whole foods, veggies, fruit, etc., and 20 percent of the time I have treats like cake or fries.

This works for me because I never deprive myself. Depriving myself in the past always backfired. I'd eat salads all week and then binge eat chips on the weekend. But on this diet, I can have chips in moderation, and that little fix during the week is all I need.

I use the MyFitnessPal app to track my food and macros and that really helps me stay on track, even while eating treats.

But I realized that I was really limiting myself. When I started my weight loss journey, my brother had recently joined the Air Force and was in basic training, which meant lots of exercise in the gym to stay fit. He got me into the gym and helped me overcome my gym-timidation.

When he got deployed, I learned how to weight train using bodybuilding.com's exercise library. From there, I watched a lot of YouTube videos to perfect my form while lifting. I loved it so much.

In 2018, I received my certification in personal training. Now, I lift weights five days a week. I have one cardio/active rest day, and one complete rest day.

The stronger I got, the more confidence I built inside and outside of the gym. I do what people call "powerbuilding," which is a combination of powerlifting and bodybuilding. It is empowering as a woman to lift really heavy weights. I perform progressive overload in my training, which means I progressively add weight as I continue to get stronger. Lifting weights is my therapy.

It's been a rollercoaster of a journey. Some days I would take a few steps backward and find myself binge eating. But my habits were built by just trying to improve each day, whether it was by adding more weight to my barbell or eating an extra piece of fruit that day. Ive learned that quick fixes backfire, and the all-or-nothing mindset is what kept me stuck in the yo-yo dieting cycle.

Following the 80-20 lifestyle has really helped me heal my relationship with food. Any guilt I have around treating myself is short-lived, and I don't have food anxiety anymore. Focusing on macros and lifting weights helped me, too; not only am I physically stronger, my mind is stronger, too.

New Delhi: An effective plan can help you shed those extra kilos as well as avoid gaining back the lostweight. While quick weight loss strategies are not recommended by most experts as its not a long-term fix, chances are that the plan maymotivate you for more sustainable changes that can help you stay fit for life. And if youre looking for some ways to help you lose weight fast, perhaps, in less than a week, the following tips may help.

But, if you have a health problem or history of eating disorders like anorexia, its not advisable to go on a diet. Here are six simple steps that may help you lose belly fat and achieve your weight lossin one week at home. Take a look below.

Eat whole foods

Adopt a simple diet high in whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables while cutting back on processed, junk foods. Fruits and veggies are low in calories but tend to be high in fibre and other essential nutrients that can be beneficial for your weight and overall health. Include more of low-carb veggies and lean protein in your diet for better weight loss results.

Limit intake of carbs

Research has shown that a low-carb diet can help you lose weight fast and improve health. Decreasing the intake of carb, even for a few days, can help reduce bloating and water weight. For optimal benefits, try to eliminate or drastically limit intake of sugars and starchy carbs for the week. You can replace these foods with healthier alternatives such as lean meats, eggs, fish, etc.

Try intermittent fasting

Following intermittent fasting (IF) is a simple, yet, effective plan when trying to lose fat fast. There are different types of intermittent fasting that can aid your weight loss by reducing your calorie intake. These plans, ranging from 16:8, 5:2, 20:4, time-restricted fasting or longer fasts, can be incorporated into your daily lifestyle.

Practice portion control

This will not only help you lose weight but also prevent excessive energy intake, which is not required. Research has linked larger portions to an increased risk of obesity. So, divide the portions in half and opt for the smaller ones. A simple trick to manage weight would be to choose larger portions with low-energy-dense foods.

Avoid water retention

Here, were talking about 'water weight' and not chronic water retention, which may indicate a serious health problem such as malfunctioning of kidneys or hormones. The fact is that bloating or water weight can be a result of a poor lifestyle that can be remedied without a trip to the doctor. There are many ways that can help you reduce water weight and get leaner naturally - one such is coffee, which may help you burn more fat and get rid of excess water due to the presence of caffeine.

Increase your activity level

Increase your daily physical activity to help you burn more calories and shed the pounds. Making simple lifestyle changes such as taking stairs instead of the elevators, biking, going for a brisk walk on a regular basis will enable youto move more and yield results without going to the gym.

Make sure that you optimise your diet and fitness regime to help you lose weight effectively.

McGregor makes fast work of Cerrone on UFC return – KFGO News

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Reuters) - Former two-division champion Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon with a stunning knockout of Donald Cerrone in under a minute at UFC 246 on Saturday in his first fight since losing a lightweight title bout to Khabib Nurmagomedov 15 months ago.

The 31-year-old Irishman left 'Cowboy' Cerrone bloodied just seconds into the fight by ramming shoulders into his face from the clinch, and when they broke McGregor landed a head kick that wobbled the American and sent him scrambling back to the cage.

McGregor closed in and rained down strikes as Cerrone covered up, prompting referee Herb Dean to stop the fight after just 40 seconds.

McGregor served a six-month suspension and was fined $50,000 for his role in a brawl at the end of his loss to Nurmagomedov.

He was convicted of assault late last year for punching a man who had refused a shot of whiskey from him in a Dublin pub while in a separate case in 2018 he was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief after police said he attacked a vehicle carrying UFC fighters.

He pleaded guilty to a reduced disorderly conduct charge in that case.

After his long absence, McGregor was glad to be back.

"I feel really good, but I came out of here unscathed. I'm in shape. We've got work to do to get back to where I was," McGregor said in his post-fight interview.

The victory was McGregor's first since November 2016 at Madison Square Garden where he beat Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title and become the organization's first simultaneous two-weight champion.

A crowd of over 19,000 packed out the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday and an uninspiring undercard was quickly forgotten as McGregor made his way to the Octagon.

Fans waving Irish Tricolours roared support for their man as the introductions took place and McGregor leaped into action as the fight began.

Cerrone had made his name by going toe-to-toe with some of the heaviest hitters in the UFC, giving fans the fights they want to see, but he was caught cold by McGregor's unorthodox shoulder strikes.

"I had never seen anything like that," Cerrone said. "It threw me way off guard. He busted my nose and it started bleeding and then he stepped back and head kicked me.

Despite a third straight defeat, Cerrone said he had no plans to retire.

Im going to keep fighting man. I love this sport.

McGregor has said he planned to have three UFC fights this year and also revealed he has a lucrative boxing match against Manny Pacquiao in the pipeline.

On Friday, Sydney-based personal trainer Jono Castano Acero posted a photo with the Australian actress, saying he was proud of Wilson for sticking to it.

"Friday vibes, but @rebelwilson has been putting in the yards 7 days a week! Proud of you gurl," he wrote.

"I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I've just had but I'm going to do it!" she wrote. "Who's with me in making some positive changes this year?"

"These people are like, the best dancers in the whole world, so they can't cool their muscles down or they could get an injury and they'd be out of the film ... So, they'd heat up the set like a sauna so we would never cool down, but made it pretty uncomfortable," Wilson said in the interview.

We ride together, we die together never really made that much sense as a slogan, did it? Regardless, the line that epitomized the appeal of Bad Boys, the uber-violent action buddy cop franchise that turned Martin Lawrence and Will Smith into movie stars back in the mid-90s. Smith and Lawrence now fiftysomethings are back for a third go-round with surprising and enjoyable new tricks.

In 2003, the eight years between Bad Boys seemed like an eternity. But theres been seventeen years between Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Lifethe former hit theaters before an iPhone ever existed, just as the so-called War On Terror was hitting full swing and a wide-eyed Beyonce embarked on a nascent solo career. If the buddy cop genre was on life support in the early 2000s, the formula is almost completely post-mortem in 2020; most buddy cop flicks in more recent times have been subversive spoofs (like 2010s The Other Guys) or unfunny one-offs (like the forgettable CHiPs).

This time around, Mike Lowry (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) face the realities of middle age. Burnett is happy to waltz into retirement and into Papa territory, exhausted from chasing kingpins. Lowry, on the other hand, is ever more of an adrenaline junkie than in the past; addicted to the thrill and holding on to a bulletproof playboy image thats getting sadder and sadderparticularly when hes forced to admit he wrecked a promising relationship with fellow officer Rita (Paola Nunez) and every time he peppers his bravado with Millennial-speak like Turn up and One Hunnid.

Lowrys disappointment in Burnetts desire to leave the force turns into something harsher after a shooting forces Mike to take stock and Marcus distances himself from his old partner. Of course, this is all just a set up for the duo to reconnect in the face of tragedyalong with a gaggle of new recruits led by Rita; including a computer geek who may or may not be a killing machine, a young tough guy who hates Lowry for apparently no reason, and Vanessa Hudgens.

Bad Boys For Life has more heart than the lunkheaded Bad Boys II, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Ballah dont forego the departed Michael Bays formula for punchlines and hyperkinetic violence; theres an opening knife sequence thats almost gratuitously graphic, and an action set-piece on a bridge that may be the most ambitious in the series. Theres only a passing mention of Burnetts sister (played by Gabrielle Union in the previous film) and an obligatory callback to IIs funniest moment involving his daughter, but a lot of the movies emotional core sits with Smiths Mike Lowry. Smith plays his first action star with an almost meta-level of intensity.

Hes the sum of all Will Smiths Will Smithiness in one character and gets to play with the idea of Lowrys machismo persona. Together with the recognition that Lawrence isnt really an action star (the film smartly turns his affinity for sitting and watching as Smith jumps headfirst into heroics into a running gag), its a good turn for the characters and helps elevate the second half of the movie after a somewhat rote first half.

As the films big bad, Telenovela action star Kate del Castillo isnt given a whole lot to do, nor is Jacob Scipio as Armas, as her son and steely hitman, who is on the hunt for Lowry. Reliably familiar support from Theresa Randle as Burnetts long-suffering wife and Joe Pantoliano as the perpetually-flustered police captain Conrad Howard reminds everyone that this is a Bad Boys flick, and the actors clearly relish jumping back into their long-standing roles.

But these films always work best when Smith and Lawrence get to quip lines back-and-forth while dodging bullets, and the easy partnership between the two remains intact, even when the film lags under its own clichs or the sentiment borders on silly. Theres a twist that feels especially contrived and so many self-referential moments where Marcus and Mike seem to almost know that theyre in a movie about Marcus and Mike (who say Bad boys for life as a wedding toast, really?), but theres a breeziness to the proceedings that feels more in line with the easy fun of the 1995 originalas opposed to the frenetically hyperactive feel of its sequel.

Anyone who is excited to see Bad Boys For Life wants to go into it for what these movies have always managed to give their fans; just enough comedy sprinkled with just enough to story to justify eye-popping action sequences and RoboCop-levels of bloodshed. The buddy cop genre was always predictable, but the best of itclassics like Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop and, yes, the first Bad Boys filmhas always been a fun night at the movies.

In that regard, Bad Boys For Life doesnt disappoint. Its coasting on the easygoing partnership of Smith and Lawrence, as it always has. 25 years ago, they were two of the biggest stars on television, making a somewhat unlikely leap to action stardom in a movie initially written for then-Saturday Night Live comedians Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz that was being directed by a guy most people had never heard of. We may be a vastly different audience today than we were in the 1990s or 2000s, but theres some fun in watching how different Mike and Marcus are too.

Franchises like Rush Hour and Lethal Weapon seem like big blockbuster brands of yesteryear, as a whole generation of moviegoers have grown up with vast comic book spectacles or rapid-chase car flicks overpopulated with musclebound tough guys. As such, Bad Boys For Life stands as a sort of throwback in popcorn entertainment; that reliable action-comedy that coasts on the chemistry and charisma of its leadsmore so than otherworldly special effects or universe-building.

The constant mentions of One last time statements remind the audience that this could be the final go-round for Mike and Marcus. Big box office returns can reroute retirements, but if this is indeed the grand finale for Bad Boys, there are worse ways to go out. In a world where Lethal Weapon 4 and Rush Hour 3 exist (with talk of another in the Chris Tucker/Jackie Chan series coming down the pike), Bad Boys For Life should be praised for what it does manage to do so well. Its fun, violent escapism that doesnt ask too much of anyone. And sometimes thats really all we need these movies to be.

Bad Boys For Life opens in theaters Friday, January 17.
