Vuyo Dabula shares his fitness and diet tips with us – SowetanLIVE

The love of fitness was instilled in me at an early age because my father very athletic and my mother loved jogging and maintaining a good diet. As a young boy, I was also influenced by international action heroes such as Bruce Lee, Jean-Claude van Damme and Sylvester Stallone.

I grew quite skinny and I was body shamed a lot. So I adopted a fighter character which I played for myself on a daily basis. To warm up I spend about an hour on the treadmill, running about 10-15km. After warming up, I move on to high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which consists of a variety of intense workouts and resting for about 10-30 seconds in between. After the workout I go to work, if I have work. In the evening I will focus on a specific muscle group. For leg day its exercises that focus on my hamstrings, thighs, calves, and so on. The next day I may move onto my stomach an ab workout or on my arms. And on Saturdays and Sundays I will do lower intensity workouts.

Diet is important. I eat regularly throughout the day but in small portions. I eat foods that are high in protein like beans and darker vegetables. I make sure I burn more calories than I consume.

I always try to maintain a balance in my life despite my hectic schedule. Sometimes I have to shoot two different shows simultaneously. For example I was shooting Queen Sono and Generations: The Legacy (on SABC 1) at the same time. During such times its important to prioritise because I have to be able to train, spend time with my family and also deliver at work.

I am lucky that I have a supportive family and close friends who understand my impossible schedule. However, it is very important for me to make time for my close people and still be able to [go to the] gym and perform.

Randy Jackson Reflects on Career, Life and Weight Loss – Closer Weekly

If Randy Jackson has been hard to recognize since ending his 12-year run on American Idol in 2014, its no accident. Hes lost 114 pounds after having gastric bypass surgery in 2003, and has been working hard at keeping it off.

For years Ive been developing things that are going to help me stay healthy, and treating my body right after so many years of treating it wrong, Randy, 63, exclusively tells Closer. So now, in addition to developing new TV shows, the musician whos played with everyone from Journey to Mariah Carey has founded Unify Health Labs, creating a line of wellness products to benefit himself and others.

These are things Ive learned along the way, and Im trying to take them forward for people, he says. Yet even with all the projects Randys taken on, the greatest hat I wear is being a father, the single dad of three reveals to Closer. Kids make you realize how precious life really is.

I was trying to assemble a team of professionals to help me design what Unify Health was going to be. I learned that most diseases start in the gut you literally are what you eat! And part of the issue was keeping the weight off. So trying to get sustainability with the weight loss is the real issue that led me through this health craze.

I feel really good! Id like to get taller. [Laughs] Theres no pill for that, though! I just want to be even healthier.

Simon [Cowell], Paula [Abdul] and I are all still very close. Well have dinner, well chat on the phone. Weve been plotting [project] ideas for a couple years now. Maybe one of these years well put something together. I talked to [Ryan] Seacrest a bit ago. If the four of us came back to Idol or a show like that, that would be interesting, We had some great chemistry.

What are your best memories from the show?

Simon, Paula and I had so much fun. The funny auditions are still the wildest to me, like the guy that thought he was a lion! And you watch a shy Carrie Underwood blossom in front of your eyes, see the greatness that Kelly Clarksons achieved. And Adam Lambert, Ruben [Studdard], Jordin Sparks, Chris Daughtry. And Fantasia my God! How do you feel about the latest slate of talent shows? The Masked Singer is really an entertainment show, which I think is great. Its not really about singing, its about guessing whos behind the mask. The Voice and Idol have some great judges and find some great talent. I dont know why none of that talent is successful, but wait I actually do. [Laughs] Cause they didnt have us to shepherd them. Cowell and I were A&R guys who developed stars and made records.

Being in the studio with Aretha [Franklin], a consummate professional. Shed come in and sing, do her thing once or twice just unbelievably great and then shes gone. I had lot of funny times with Mariah, Ms. Carey, just an amazing songwriter and singer. Also being in the studio with Bruce Springsteen, cracking jokes. Just seeing all the greats [Bob] Dylan, Elton [John], Billy Joel, Whitney [Houston], Madonna and their process, and trying as a younger producer, musician, writer to sponge it all up.

I was the greatest child ever! [Laughs] I was a supermodel at 1. No, Im kidding. I had a great childhood. The reason I am where I am now is because of the good, the bad, the different, because as a child, you dont see anything bad. I had two great parents. It wasnt always rosy, but thats what growing up is.

I certainly hope so! Some days I wonder. [Laughs]

My oldest is a film dialogue editor. The middle girl is a photographer. My sons a producer-DJ. Theyre all in the arts.

No, thank God. Im not that old yet! [Laughs]

By really being honest with them, telling them the truth and not ever shading it, cause I think people sugarcoat stuff a lot. Truth is the only reality we should live by.

You gotta love yourself first, and if you dont love yourself, you cant really love anyone else. That will help you with your health, with your mindset and everything else.

I currently have a girlfriend, so I think Im good there. I try to keep that very personal, very private.

Were still going strong with Randy Jackson Eyewear, 15 years now. Were developing two TV shows: Ones a new music show, and we also have a celebrity chat show called Turning Point. But everythings a bit on hold right now, as you can imagine.

Im just so happy and proud of what Ive learned, trying to pay the wisdom forward.

The Geordie Shore star, 24, looked unrecognisable after transforming her body over the past 12 months.

Just last week the reality TV star shed another five pounds thanks to her gruelling lockdown exercise regime.

And to show off the results, shes been delighting her fans in a series of revealing outfits and swimwear.

Posting the photo to her Instagram account, Chloe wrote: Off to Ocean Beach, referencing the celeb haunt in Ibiza.

Wearing a silver bikini and strappy heels, the star styled her hair into big disco waves to finish her look.

Her fans were astounded, with one commenting on the photo: Ahhh your bodyyyyy.

While another added: WOW .

A third even proposed, writing: Marry me.

Last week, Geordie Shore favourite told fans how she was still labelled fat despite shedding two stone in just 12 months.

Salon owner Chloe bravely shared before and after pictures of her figure and accompanied with a candid caption about the horrid trolling she is still subject to.

She wrote: Even after I had surgery you would not believe the amount of trolls that would call me fat.

But right now Im feeling the best Ive ever felt, Ive set myself goals, Im eating healthy and training regular.

She shared a snap showing her in a black sports bra and knickers followed by a two current images of her slimmed down look.

The sassy lass flashed her abs wearing a blue sports bra and patterned white leggings.

Later on, she let slip she was having a delicious salmon dish for dinner, in keeping with her healthy eating routine.

Last week, Chloe delightedly exclaimed on Instagram how she could see her abs after shedding yet another 5lbs.

Mum sheds 4st by following weight loss plan without ‘cutting anything out’ – Daily Star

A stay-at-home mum has lifted the lid on her incredible weight loss journey in an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online.

Elizabeth Butler, 36, suffered from hypertension and recently had an operation for a congenital heart defect.

And before her inspiring transformation, the mum-of-two tipped the scales at 13st.

It all changed for Elizabeth, from Glasgow, when she decided she wanted to live a healthier life for her children and husband.

She turned to WW previously known as Weight Watchers to help her get into shape.

Now Elizabeth has spoken about the weight loss method which she "didn't need to cut anything out for".

She said: "[I started my journey because] I had quite serious hypertension as well as an operation for a congenital heart defect.

"I felt I needed to do this if I wanted to live a healthier life and be around for my children and husband."

Before she opted for WW, Elizabeth tried other diets and methods, but found nothing would work for her.

She added: "I tried loads of different diets, South Beach diet, intermittent fasting, also just cutting out carbs. I couldn't stick with them."

Then Elizabeth registered with WW at the end of August and had her first weigh in the following month.

Now she weighs a healthy 9st after dropping around 4st on the simple weight loss method.

She explained: "I haven't cut anything, bread, pasta, chocolate, cheese, all still having the food I love just being more mindful.

"Now I can run, I love it and also completed the couch 5k, also found that I'm not out of breath walking or running after my boys."

Skipping breakfast can also lead to lethargy which can further lead to the craving of junk food later in the day. It has been linked to type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease among others. As per the study which was conducted by researchers from Tel Aviv University (TAU) and Hebrew University in Israel, breakfast consumption triggered the proper cyclic clock gene expression leading to improved glycaemic control. Daniela Jakubowicz of TAU said, "Proper meal timing - such as consuming breakfast before 9:30 am - could lead to an improvement of the entire metabolism of the body, facilitate weight loss, and delay complications associated with type 2 diabetes and other age-related disorders."

3. No MeditationDid you know the early meditation session can actually help to shed extra pounds? Yes, deep respiration and mindfulness meditation can help weight watchers as it can reduce stress hormone called Cortisol. If this hormone is out of balance, the same can lead to extended appetite and weight gain. So, instead of getting up in the morning and checking emails and social media handles which can instantly affect your mood, try to indulge in meditation in the morning.

4. No stretchingYou must have heard about stretching exercises we do during warm-up and cool-down sessions to reduce aches and injuries. However, stretching for a few minutes in the morning can help to lose love handles and extra fats. So, if you don't have time for intense cardio workouts, some stretching exercises for few minutes can be helpful. They will improve your metabolism, blood circulation, and even help in muscle building. Stretching and yoga poses can burn fat if practiced regularly. So, start your day with some stretching exercises. For the unversed, hydration plays a key role in weight loss by burning calories, aiding digestion, by removing toxins from our body and by helping in better workout among others. As per the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in the United States, adult women should include 2,700 mL/day while adult men should drink 3,700 mL/day. Again the requirement varies as per activity level, age, body size, humidity and health among others.
